Westside Parkway Bridge - Phase II of this project includes realignment of the Old Roswell Road/Mansell Road intersection. This portion of the project is nearing completion. The intersection is expected to open the first week of May, weather permitting. Completion of the overall project may take several more weeks.
Crabapple/Rucker Intersection Project - This project will add turn lanes to the intersection of Crabapple Road and Rucker Road. It will also realign Rucker Road to the driveway of The Arbors. This project is underway and is scheduled to be complete in September 2010.
Old Alabama Road Signal Upgrades - This GDOT project, funded with ARAA (stimulus) funds, is upgrading the signal equipment at seven locations along Old Alabama Road from Riverside Road to Roxburgh Drive as well as the signal at Norcross Street and Frazier/Forrest Drive. The project inlcudes the addition of pedestrian countdown timers, ADA-compliant crosswalks, replacement of the signal cabinet, and upgrade of the signal heads. This project is underway and is expected to be complete in late summer 2010
Upcoming Construction
- Grimes Bridge/Warsaw/Norcross Roundabout - This project is currently in right-of-way acquisition and is expected to begin construction in July 2010. Review information on roundabouts here.
- Holcomb Bridge Middle School Sidewalks (also known as Holcomb Bridge East Sidewalks) - This project will close several gaps in the sidewalk network around Holcomb Bridge Middle School along Holcomb Bridge Road. The project is currently in right-of-way acquisition and construction is expected to begin sometime in mid-2010.
- Holcomb Bridge Road/SR 9-120 Intersection Project - This project will improve the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Road/SR 92 and SR 9/120 by adding turn lanes on three approaches and constructing a median along SR 9/120 from just north of Clara Drive to just north of Houze Road. The project is currently in right-of-way acquisition. The project is expected to begin construction in August 2010 and will last for eight months.
- Swaybranch Drive Extension – This project will connect Swaybranch Drive from Market Boulevard to its existing terminus west of Warsaw Road. The project is currently in procurement and is expected to be open to traffic in December 2010.
- Mansell Road Signal Upgrades - This GDOT project will upgrade the signal equipment at five locations along Mansell Road from SR 92/Crossville Road to Warsaw Road. The project inlcudes the addition of pedestrian countdown timers, ADA-compliant crosswalks, replacement of the signal cabinet, and upgrade of the signal heads. The project is expected to get underway in June 2010 and will take about 10 months to complete
